Aba Taylor is resigning as executive director of the Brookline Community Foundation to take a position as president and CEO of YW Boston, a nonprofit organization focused on racial and gender equity.
Taylor joined the community foundation in Sept. 2022. During her tenure, the organization’s assets grew from $9.3 million to$16.2 million, according to Gioia Perugini, the chair of BCF’s Board of Trustees.
Taylor also led the creation of six new funds and helped BCF distribute nearly $2.5M in federal ARPA funds focused on racial equity and COVID recovery in Brookline. She also oversaw the launch of a new website and dashboard for BCF’s “Understanding Brookline” project, a compendium of demographic and economic data.
Under Taylor’s leadership, BCF also decided to sell the building on Webster Place that had housed the organization for nearly 60 years.
“I am proud of all that we’ve been able to accomplish over the years and am especially grateful for the collaborative efforts that have developed during my time,” Taylor said in a statement. “The leadership in this community is both unique and outstanding, and so I leave this role trusting that Brookline is in good hands with our collective partners who will continue the work of building a better Brookline for all.”
Taylor’s last day at BCF will be Jan. 31. The organization is planning to bring on an interim executive director to fill the position through the end of the fiscal year, according to Perugini.
BCF, one of the largest nonprofit funders in Brookline and a leading local social services organization, provides direct assistance to families in need along with a number of other projects, initiatives and scholarships.
