If you’re a poet, writer or musician who lives in Brookline, you might be the town’s next Poet Laureate.
The Brookline Commission for the Arts is seeking applications to serve a three year term in the literary position.
The next Poet Laureate will be the town’s fifth, part of a program which began in 2012.
The position comes with a $4,500 stipend. The Poet Laureate is tasked with promoting awareness and appreciation for the literary arts in Brookline, giving readings and performances and taking part in events and community education.
““Brookline is a town of readers, and that includes readers of poetry. There’s a strong atmosphere for sharing and listening to poetry,” current laureate Jennifer Barber recently told Brookline.News.
