RE: Push for an outdoor pool in Brookline gains new momentum

“Why doesn’t Brookline have an outdoor community pool?” is frequent topic of conversation in our household as we drive to area beaches or other towns’ pools. We have a community ice rink and a community golf course, both of which serve a subset of the community far smaller than a pool would. We seem able to perpetually fund new K-8 building projects, each serving (on average) ~1% of Brookline’s population (the students in attendance. The pool is a rounding error in any of those projects. A community pool can be enjoyed by people of any age and physical condition, would provide a much needed heat refuge during summer months and would, compared to any of our other parks or facilities, bring together the largest and most varied cross-section of Brookline residents in one place to recreate and build community. It’s ridiculous to me that this is still stuck in “consideration”. Build the pool!
