With the regular issues with the budget, we must consider monetization of town resources. A great place to start would be to study monetization of overnight street parking by permit. There seems like there is demand and this could create a monthly recurring revenue stream with little effort, leveraging existing staff and processes and the police who should be already working overnight on enforcement. If street cleaning and trash services that utilize those street spots are an issue, bigger towns and cities have managed these problems with alternate side of the street parking cycles. We need to be more creative to create additional sources of revenue from town resources that are otherwise just sitting idle.
